Island Couples Retreat

As seen in Channel 9's Rottnest Reno, these two apartments were refurbished in late 2015 by Fremantle Dockers couple, the Haselbys, and West Coast Eagles couple, the Browns (with the Haselbys taking out the win in a renovation challenge and donating their $10k prize money to Starlight Foundation).

After much anticipation, these two private and charming beachfront suites are now available for your next romantic getaway. Located at the southern end of the Longreach front row accommodation units, they're so close to the ocean you could toss a pebble into the tranquil waters from your balcony.

Ideally suited to couples on their honeymoon, the houses include a queen size bed and a host of extra’s including a large day bed in the courtyard and Nespresso machine, wine cooler and bar fridge in the kitchen. A Bose audio system coupled with a unique changing room add to the uniqueness of these quality suites. The Island couples retreats are self-contained and fully equipped with a 32” TV, heater, Ceiling fans, cutlery, crockery and gas BBQ.  These suites are so special you won’t want to leave them.

Pinky Beach Eco Retreat construction works

Frequently asked questions:

What is the Pinky Beach Eco Retreat?

The Pinky Beach Eco Retreat development is the first major development on Rottnest Island for many years. It will be an ecologically sensitive, world-class eco retreat that complements the Rottnest Island Authority’s vision for revitalising the Island’s accommodation offerings.

The new retreat will provide 83 eco accommodation tents with a range of price points. It will be supported by a beach club comprising a licenced bar, café, restaurant and function area.

More details about the development are available on the proponent’s website at pinkysrottnest.com.au

What benefits will the development bring?

The development will transform the area and establish a whole new visitor experience at Rottnest Island.

The new retreat adds to the mix of accommodation offerings on the Island, offering a range of pricing points to visitors ranging from value for money glamping tents to the more exclusive variety.

Access to Pinky Beach will be improved with two extra boardwalks and new access to the Basin, linking both areas to the Wadjemup Bidi walk trail.

Remodelling and upgrades to the existing Rottnest Island Campgrounds will also be completed as part of the development.

What impacts will this have on the existing Campgrounds?

There will be no loss of campsites, although some campsites will be relocated within the area of the existing Campgrounds.

The Campgrounds will also benefit from other upgrades to facilities, and will retain prime access to Pinky Beach.

Visitors staying at the Campgrounds during the period of construction can expect some minor disruption and increased traffic to the area. We are doing everything possible to ensure your stay is a good one.

Refer to the map for details of the changed layout.

Will construction cause disruption to visitors?

Visitors may expect some minor disruption and increased traffic to and from the area. There will also be temporary fencing around areas of the site.

We are working closely with the proponent to ensure the impact on the visitor experience is kept to a minimum.

Upgrades to the Campgrounds are being undertaken as part of the first stage of the development, and will involve resituating some campsites within the existing boundary of the Campgrounds.

When is construction commencing?

Initial works are set to commence on 7 March 2018. This component of the development will involve upgrades to the Campgrounds.

Construction works on the remainder of Pinky Beach Eco Retreat development is expected to commence in April.

What times of the day will construction occur?

The hours of works will be as follows:

  • Monday to Saturday, 7:00am to 6:00pm
  • Sundays, 9:00am to 6:00pm
  • No work on public holidays

Will there be additional traffic in the area?

Yes, visitors should expect additional traffic to and from the area. Vehicles involved in the construction will be travelling via a pre-approved route from the Main Jetty to the site.

Construction vehicles should be expected during construction hours.

The route the vehicles will take has been devised to ensure minimal disruption to visitors and the environment. This will take them behind the Visitor Centre and along the back of North Thomson beach, before briefly heading past the North Thomson and Caroline Thomson accommodation areas to access Gem Road.

For more details refer to the vehicle traffic map below.

Will access to Pinky Beach be affected?

Initially no. As construction works progress it is expected that the current access point to Pinky Beach will be closed to visitors. However, visitors will be provided with alternative access to Pinky Beach.

The beach itself will remain open at all times to visitors.

Will I still have access to the tennis courts?

Initially yes. As construction works progress it is expected that the proponent will store construction materials at the tennis court location. Visitors will be informed when access to the tennis courts is affected.

Who do I contact if I have any issues?

Rottnest Island Authority is working closely with the proponent to ensure minimal impact on visitors.

If you have any accommodation related issues related, please contact the Visitor Centre on 9372 9732.

General enquiries about the construction works or development can be made to enquires@rottnestisland.com
