Rottnest Island Closure Directions

Pursuant to the Emergency Management Act 2005 (WA), Rottnest Island Closure Directions have been issued by the Commissioner of Police and State Emergency Coordinator.

A person must not enter or remain within Rottnest Island (See Map 990kb) unless:

(a)The person is a permanent resident; or,
(b)The person enters or remains for the purpose of:

a.Emergency management; or
b.Law enforcement; or
c.Providing medical care or medical supplies; or

(c)The person (A) enters or remains for the purpose of transporting another person who is authorised under these directions to enter or remain on Rottnest Island
(B) to or from Rottnest Island, provided that A does not remain on Rottnest Island for longer than is necessary to transport B within or outside those boundaries; or

(d)The person is authorised to do so by or on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer and the person complies with any terms or conditions to which that authorisation is subject, 

And the person has not been directed to leave Rottnest Island by the Chief Executive Officer, a police offer or any other person authorised by law or the Chief Executive Officer to give such a direction, or a direction having that effect. 

Failure to comply is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 for individuals and $250,000 for bodies corporate.
