Rottnest Island ready to reopen

A message from Michelle Reynolds, Executive Director, Rottnest Island Authority

Rottnest Island, one of Australia’s iconic visitor destinations, will be reopened to visitors, overnight guests and boaters on Saturday 6 June 2020. The reopening includes the Island’s surrounding marine reserve.

Since the Island's closure to the public on 24 March 2020, we have been humbled by the opportunity to play an important part in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. We have done this by enabling two special groups of guests to complete their self-isolation period after returning to Western Australia from overseas.

We have been overwhelmed by the support and understanding from our loyal visitors, volunteers and Island businesses during this time and are delighted with the Premier’s announcement today to reopen Rottnest Island to visitors from Saturday 6 June 2020. Until then, the Closure Directions remain in place.

The wellbeing of our visitors is the highest priority for us all in the Rottnest Island community and we are working together to ensure that everything is in place to protect your health and safety. More information will be made available on this website in the coming days.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
