September School Holidays Program
There's no better place to have some school holiday fun than Rottnest Island!
Rottnest Island is pleased to offer a program packed full of fun during the September school holidays, promising to leave the kids feeling as happy as a Quokka.
You can also fill your days by catching a movie at the historic Picture Hall, having a round of mini-golf at the Family Fun Park or catching a joy ride on the historic Captain Hussey Train which runs from the Settlement to the Oliver Hill Gun & Tunnels, not to mention exploring our incredible beaches and bays, and meeting the local wildlife. Hire a bike and snorkel equipment from Pedal & Flipper then pack up an island map from the visitor centre to guide you.
Keen to make the most of the picturesque beaches while staying (mostly) dry? Hop on an adventure boat tour with Rottnest Express (suitable for kids over the age of 4).
For more land-based adventures, you can't beat a tour on a revolutionary set of wheels with Segway Tours WA (suitable for kids over the age of 12).
For a more insightful look through Rottnest Island's rich history, take a walk around Wadjemup Museum. Discover a range of exhibits including 40,000-year-old artefacts, whale bones and the Lighthouse Keeper’s jacket.
School Holiday Tours with the Rottnest Volunteer Guides
Every school holidays, the Rottnest Island Authority together with the Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association also offer a program of free activities and tours that will get you out exploring and learning about Rottnest’s natural environment and interesting history! Come and take a walk on the wildlife and discover some of Rottnest Island's native birds, reptiles and mammals with the Birds and Beasts of Rottnest Island tour. Or why not put your creative skills to the work at the sea sculpture challenge.

Quokka Detective Treasure Hunt
Head on over to Rottnest Island these school holidays to take part in the island's self-guided Quokka Detective Treasure Hunt. To play, all you need to do is visit Rottnest Island during the month of September and head to the locations listed online to find the answer to each puzzle. Plus all children aged 12 and under who complete the treasure hunt will receive a special gift!* (*Terms and Conditions apply)
