Rules and Regulations
Rottnest Island boasts some of Western Australia’s most pristine marine environments. Some rules and regulations exist to help conserve this unique environment.
- Five marine sanctuary zones have been established within the Rottnest Island Marine Reserve. Fishing and collecting of marine flora and fauna is prohibited in these areas.
- No boating areas, five-knot speed limits and other guidelines are also in place to balance recreation activities with the natural environment. These rules, regulations and guidelines need to be observed.
