Frequently Asked Questions about Educational Tours with Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association (RVGA)

There are three educational tours to choose from:

Pioneers and Prisoners – a 50-minute guided walking tour in the settlement featuring stories of Wadjemup in the 1800s. Tours run daily at 10:15 am, 11:15 am, 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm and 2:15 pm.

Reefs, Wrecks and Daring Sailors – a 50-minute guided walking tour in the settlement to discover the coastline-forming events and the exploration of early European vessels. Tours run daily at 11:10 am, 12:10 pm and 2:10 pm.

Wadjemup Museum – located behind the bakery in the settlement, experience a 30-minute guided tour through mixed media displays that tell the rich history of Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. Tours run daily every half an hour from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Each school is entitled to one educational tour. If the school group exceeds the maximum number of participants per tour (25), subsequent tour bookings of the same tour can be booked so that each child in the school group visiting Rottnest Island receives an educational tour experience. 

Yes. The maximum number of participants per tour (25) includes teachers and students.

Schools can re-book or amend tours for a new date within Term 3, 2025 subject to availability. To cancel or amend and re-book, the school will need to email [email protected]

 

No. You will need to hire your bikes from Pedal & Flipper Hire. Refer to the Overnight Camp Subsidy Bike Hire FAQ for more information. 

Your tour booking confirmation email will include a meeting location of either the RVGA Information Booth or the Wadjemup Museum. These areas are highlighted on the Island Map here
