Clontarf Football Academy students from across WA play off in a round-robin Australian Rules football competition.

Over 100 students from the Clontarf Football Academy will head to Wadjemup / Rottnest Island in October for the 18th annual Wadjemup Cup.

Travelling from all around the state, as far North as Carnarvon and as far southeast as Esperance, students in Years 8 and 9 will compete in a round-robin Australian Rules football carnival to determine the Grand Final line-up and, ultimately, the winner of the coveted 2025 Wadjemup Cup.

Spectators are welcome to come down and cheer on the teams at this free community event. Frankie’s on Rotto will be onsite selling coffee, refreshments and light snacks. Simply bring along a picnic blanket and settle in to enjoy the games.

Please note photography and videography is not permitted at the event.

Event subject to change.

The Wadjemup Cup is a Clontarf Foundation initiative run in partnership with the Rottnest Island Authority and has been taking place annually on the island for over a decade. The event provides an opportunity for Aboriginal students from across the State to test out their football skills against their peers, forge new friendships and learn about the Aboriginal cultural significance of Wadjemup.

Rottnest Island Authority has supported Clontarf Foundation since 2007. The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and by doing so equips them to participate more meaningfully in society.

Where to find Wadjemup Cup

The event is held at Wadjemup Oval, a 10-minute walk north-west of the ferry jetty, towards the Basin.
