Simply book between Thursday 20 June and Sunday 18 August 2024 for travel dates between Thursday 27 June and Sunday 18 August 2024 to receive this offer.

The Rottnest Island Seniors Ferry Subsidy Scheme is a strategic initiative by the WA State Government to improve the lives of seniors and support them with cost-of-living pressures, while also making Rottnest Island more affordable for Western Australians. 

WA Seniors Card holders are eligible to enjoy subsidised return ferry fares with participating ferry operators to Rottnest Island during the promotional period. 

To be eligible for a WA Seniors Card, you must be: 

  • Aged 65 years or above;
  • An Australian Citizen, or hold an Australian Permanent Resident Visa;
  • Reside in Western Australia for more than six months of the year; and,
  • Work less than 25 hours per week.

No, the subsidised seniors ferry fare is only available for eligible WA Seniors Card holders.

The Rottnest Island Seniors Ferry Subsidy Scheme is a strategic initiative by the WA State Government to improve the lives of seniors and support them with cost-of-living pressures, while also making Rottnest Island more affordable for Western Australians.

Interstate or international travellers with pensioner concession cards can enjoy a range of other ferry travel and discounts from participating operators. Browse current offers here or check ferry operator websites for more information. 

You can book your subsidised travel with participating ferry operators between 20 June and 18 August 2024 for trips between 27 June and 18 August 2024.  

To book the subsidised ferry fares, select your preferred ferry operator, either Rottnest Express, Rottnest Fast Ferries or SeaLink, and follow the instructions to book your travel. 

The subsidy applies to the ferry fare only and does not include booking, luggage or any other additional fees that may be applied at the time of booking. 

Existing bookings are subject to the original terms and conditions agreed to at the time of booking, which may include cancellation fees. The subsidy is only available for new eligible bookings made during the booking period.   

There is no limit to the number of subsidised bookings you can make during the promotion period; however, you can only book one subsidised return trip per WA Seniors Card holder per day. All bookings are subject to the ferry provider’s booking terms and conditions.  

Cancellations of subsidised ferry tickets are subject to the participating ferry provider’s terms and conditions.
