Pedal & Flipper (bike & equipment hire)

Pedal & Flipper is the largest facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere with over 1,890 bikes and specialty equipment available for hire. Located on Rottnest Island behind the Hotel Rottnest, they are open every day of the year. In addition to the large range of bikes and equipment, they provide helmets, locks, Island information and cycling advice. The Bike Hire team is trained to personally fit customers to bikes to ensure optimum comfort and safety.

Important note: As per state law, wearing a helmet is enforced on the Island. Electric bicycles are permitted on Rottnest Island in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Code 2000. To be compliant, electric bicycles must have a maximum power output of 250 watts and not be ridden by persons under 16 years. The use of electric skateboards, electric scooters or any other electric powered device is also regulated under the Road Traffic code 2000 with further information available from Department of Transport. Penalties can be imposed for non-compliance.

Accommodation Shuttle Bus

Settle in to island life faster by taking a shuttle bus to your rooms on arrival.

The shuttle service is a quick and convenient way to move between the Island settlements and airport. The shuttle bus is perfect to get you to your accommodation or save your legs when moving between Thomson Bay, Geordie Bay and Kingstown.

The shuttle bus to Geordie Bay, Longreach Bay, Fays Bay and Kingstown Barracks attracts a small per person fee of $3 per day or $5 per week. Children under 5 years travel free.


The Accommodation Shuttle Bus operates a regular service daily between 7:30am to 7pm at 45-minute intervals. 

From 25 September, the last departure from the settlement leaves at 7pm daily for the school holidays. Then on Friday and Saturday at 6pm and 7pm daily.

This timetable is subject to change and may be adjusted in poor weather conditions. Please check the current schedule directly here or at the Rottnest Island Visitor Centre.

Tickets can be purchased from the Visitor Centre, from the Main Bus Stop ticket kiosk or from the driver onboard. 

Wadjemup Lighthouse Shuttle Bus

A daily shuttle bus is available between the Main Bus Stop in the Settlement and Wadjemup Lighthouse.

This service is currently unavailable.

Charter Bus

Private charter buses are available for hire for weddings, groups and special events. 34 and 43 seater buses available.

ADAMS Annual Transport Pass

Do you visit often? Regular visitors can benefit from an ADAMS Annual Transport Pass which provides unlimited usage of the hop on, hop off Island Explorer service and the Accommodation Shuttle that runs between Geordie Bay, Longreach Bay, Fays Bay, Kingstown Barracks and the Settlement.
