Surf Life Saving WA BeachSAFE Program

Dive into a world of beach safety and fun, where learning meets excitement against a stunning backdrop. 

Surf Life Saving WA invites you and your school group to participate in an educational BeachSAFE program right on the shores of Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. 

These training programs, available in 2 and 4-hour sessions, are designed specifically for education groups and aim to boost your students’ beach safety knowledge and confidence. Content can be adapted to suit different school groups and include a mix of classroom work and practical applications, all set against the beautiful setting of Rottnest Island. 

Your school group can dive into two exciting options, or experience both! Each offers unique learning opportunities and practical skills focused on different aspects of ocean and beach safety. 

Classroom Learning 

In an engaging classroom-based session, students will: 

  • Identify hazards in an ocean environment, with tips on how to avoid them.
  • Learn about sustainability and the sea creatures found at Rottnest Island. 
  • Understand basic steps to follow in the event of an emergency. 

Beachside Education 

 The fun and interactive beach-based sessions cover:  

  • Basic water safety tips 
  • Water rescue tips 
  • Fun games and beach activities

Where To Find the Surf Life Saving WA BeachSAFE Program

Located in the historic Kingstown Barracks which is a 25-minute walk or 10-minute cycle from the  Visitor Centre. Alternatively, you can take the Quokka Coaches accommodation shuttle bus.
